On the Richmond Noticeboard
A petition has been launched asking that North Yorkshire Council Council and the interim governors release the full reasons behind the mass resignation of the Richmond School governors.
Howard Smith launched the online petition saying:
Concerns about the management at Richmond School have been growing for months and years now and in August 2013 some appallingly poor GCE AS results were recorded and the problems became undeniable. Despite requests for an explanation, none was given to parents. It is clear there are major problems regarding management and accountability and they should not be brushed under the carpet.
Mr Smith’s action comes just days after our Freedom of Information request for full disclosure was also turned down. We have now requested an internal review of the refusal which you can follow the progress of here.
Seems that online petitions are like buses this week. The counter petition launched yesterday in support of the seven screen cinema plans for Catterick Garrison has already attracted more than 1,000 signatures. See that one here.
On tonight – Cinema Paradiso at The Station.
And if you’re looking for something to do over the weekend, check out everything we know that’s happening in Richmond during March right here and please feel free to share any we don’t yet know about plus the noticeboard for April is also now open for you to share events for free too.

Richmondshire Council reports:
Young people from Richmondshire District Youth Council launched the “Richmondshire’s Big Clean-Up” campaign by sending out a litter picking task group, with local action group Richmond Pride, on a recent Sunday and collecting no less than 18 bags of litter.
This campaign was in response to young people saying litter is the biggest issue for them in Richmondshire. A number of other litter picks across the district are being undertaken, and the Youth Council will be encouraging young people to roll up their sleeves and get picking.
It will also be running a poster competition in schools to spread the No Litter please message, and generally promoting cleaning up the area in preparation for the Tour de France.
