Richmond’s Mocha Chocolate Shop, estate agents Ward Horne and Evolve Architectural Services are among 14 small Richmondshire businesses to receive council cash to support their business ventures.

They were all awarded cash from the Small Business Grant Scheme which opened for business on October 1. So far £12,700 has been paid out to help everything from musical equipment to IT equipment.

Among those to receive grants so far are:

  • Mocha Chocolate Shop got £1000 for business expansion.
  • Evolve Architectural Services received £600 for new IT equipment.
  • Ward Horne Residential Lettings of Richmond £1000 for the website.
  • Stage 1 Cycles of Askrigg £1000 for training.
  • Musical Moods of Dalton on Tees £725 for music equipment.
  • Mighty Events of Colburn £1000 for security equipment and training.

The scheme aims to support businesses wanting to generate an increase in business turnover or job creation. A total of £60,000 has been set aside for the next two years – the scheme will close once the funding is allocated.
